Jim Gillespie
PRESIDENT
Jim taught high school social studies for 35 years at Jesup High School and is presently retired. Jim has many interests including the environment and the arts. He has traveled extensively to countries in Europe, Africa, and Latin America. He taught with Steve for over 25 years.

Dean Youngblut
VICE PRESIDENT
Dean graduated from Jesup High School in 1994. He later earned his BA in Mathematics Education from the University of Northern Iowa and is MA in Educational Leadership from Drake University. Dean is currently the Student Outreach Coordinator for Geater Machining & Manufacturing in Independence, Iowa. Dean resides in Jesup with his wife Amber and their 3 children.

Alex Ruehlow
SECRETARY
Alex is the industrial technology teacher at Jesup High School for the last nine years. He is married to his wife Lindsey and has three beautiful kids. Alex has served on many committees and boards and is passionate about helping others. Alex enjoys woodworking, fishing and spending time with his family

Brody Vogel
TREASURER
Brody grew up in Jesup and thoroughly enjoyed taking art classes with Steve Brown. He then attended Luther College and Georgetown University for undergrad and graduate studies, focusing on Philosophy and Mathematics. He now lives and works at Principal Financial Group, where he is a Data Scientist within Principal Global Investors.

Henry Brownson
Henry is from Jesup, IA where he had Steve Brown as his art teacher. He has a wonderful daughter. Henry is goal driven and passionate about bettering his community. He works as a job trainer. He is currently working on a book about mental health and has a podcast. Henry also speaks publicly about his writings.

Calvin Vogel
Calvin has been a farmer near Jesup all of his life. Calvin is a graduate of Jesup High School and a graduate of Hawkeye Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in Agricultural Business. He is married to his wife Cassie and has three great children. Calvin is an avid outdoorsman and loves to travel with his family.

Kara Masteller
Kara graduated from Jesup High School and attended as many of Steve Brown’s courses as she could during her time there. She attended the University of Iowa for undergrad and the University of Denver for graduate studies focusing on nonprofit development and public policy. Kara currently lives in Los Angeles where she works as a nonprofit development consultant.

Bill Aguiar
Bill is a Special Needs teacher for the Waverly-Shell Rock School District at the Lied Center. He is married to his wife Lori, has a son Nicholas and a granddaughter Claire. Bill has served on the board of multiple charitable organizations in the past. Bill has a passion to work with groups that improve the lives of the people in his community. Bill was fortunate to grow up in a household with artists and musicians and sees the value in what those disciplines contribute to their communities. When possible Bill loves to spend time with his family, travel, and get involved with the local music scene in the Cedar Valley.

Rhianna bigwood
Rhianna is a 2019 graduate of Jesup High School, is a Junior at the University of Iowa, studying Entrepreneurial Business. In addition to Steve Brown's natural artistic manner, Steve felt a responsibility to improve his students' self worth. Steve's intuitive nature is what Rhianna admired and misses the most about him. Rhianna is committed to honoring the legacy of Steve Brown.

Angelica Perez
Angelica is a 2017 Jesup graduate. She transferred to Jesup High School as a junior. She now attends the University of Northern Iowa majoring in biology. Currently she is working on cancer cell research. She will graduate in the spring of 22’ and looks forward to attending medical school.

Josie Loyd
SPECIAL ADVISOR TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Josie had at least one class with Steve Brown every semester that she was in high school. On top of the classes she took Josie would spend her study hall in his room everyday. Steve and Josie were close and she had dinner with him often after he retired. Josie grew up in Jesup and graduated from Jesup High School in 2019. She currently attends the University of Iowa, she is majoring in Public Health and minoring in Aging Studies. Josie is on track to graduate from the University of Iowa in December 2022. After graduating she plans to attend DMACC to pursue a certificate in long term care administration. Her long-term career goal is to be a nursing home administrator. Josie has three younger sisters, one is currently a freshman at Jesup, one is a freshman at Iowa State, and one will be three next week.
